PHMSA (DOT) - Hazardous Material Regulations /Hazardous Waste Transport
The pick-up, transportation, and legal disposal of hazardous wastes are highly-regulated business activities with oversight by various federal and state agencies. Increasing agency supervision and cradle-to-grave liability makes compliance with the PHMSA (DOT) regulations a concern for any facility that employs hazardous materials and chemicals as part of their operations.
Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals
Major changes to the HMR rules, in order to standardize the classification and labeling of hazardous chemicals on a global scale, are comming. These changes are expected to be final in August, 2011, followed by an implementation period.
This regulation requires:

- Permits
- Licensing
- Accurate Labeling and Shipping
- Recordkeeping
- Waste Reporting
- Documented and Implemented Safety Procedures
- Appropriate Security
- Incident Reporting
