The EPA has made it easier to find data and information about chemicals. The following databases are now available:
ToxCastDB
ToxCast uses advanced science tools to assist with efficiently understanding the impact(s) of chemicals on biological processes that may lead to adverse health effects. It screens 1,000 chemicals in over 500 rapid tests (high-throughput screening assays).
ToxCastDB has many benefits:
- Users can search and download data for all ToxCast chemicals, assays, genes, pathways and endpoints.
- The database allows for statistical associations and biologically driven data mining.
- Links are available to animal data through the ToxRefDB.
ExpoCastDB
ExpoCxposure and exposure factor data for chemical prioritization.
The benefits of ExpoCastDB include:
- Consolidate observational human exposure data, improve access and provide links to health related data
- House measurements from human exposure studies
- Standardized reporting of observational exposure info.
- A separate interface with ACToR
- Linkages with toxicity data, environmental fate data, and chemical manufacturer's information.
- It Provide basic user functions such as:
- Visualizations (scatterplots)
- Statistics & estimated distributional parameters
- Download customized datasets
ACToR
ACToR is EPA's on-line warehouse of all publicly available chemical toxicity data, and can be used to find all publicly available data about potential chemical risks to human health and the environment. ACToR aggregates data from over 500 public sources on over 500,000 environmental chemicals searchable by chemical name, other identifiers and by chemical structure.
The ACToR data warehouse:
- Allows users to search and query data from other EPA chemical toxicity databases including:
- ToxRefDB (30 yrs. & $2B in animal toxicity studies)
- ToxCastDB (See above)
- ExpoCastDB (coming soon)
- DSSTox (high quality chemical structures and annotations)
- Includes chemical structure, physico-chemical values, in vitro assay data and in vivo toxicology data.
- Includes, but not limited to, high and medium production volume industrial chemicals, pesticides (active and inert ingredients), and potential ground and drinking water contaminants.
